Description: An Art Deco period dining table executed in sycamore having sabre form legs terminating in brass sabots. Design and execution attributed to Alfred Chambon (1884-1973). Belgium, ca. 1935. Chambon was the youngest of three sons born into a French family that had emigrated to Belgium in 1868. His father, Alban, was an architect and designer. While all three sons were involved with furniture design and manufacture, Alfred was the only one to show at the Universal Exhibition held in Paris in 1925. He was known as the most innovative force in the family, producing his high quality modern designs through his company, Anciens Etablissements Alban Chambon.
